When are auditions?
Auditions will take place for the 2005 season in AUGUST with a PRE CAMP in MAY for NEW MEMBERS. All new members in the band will report at the same time. Please refer to your band camp letter for exact dates. We will have two days of new member camp. Then, on the third day, we will have auditions.

Where will I be housed?
Anyone that is planning to live in the dorm (Dixon Hall) for band camp, must check in from 9 AM - 12 Noon on Sunday August 14th. Southerners Band Camp will begin at 4:00 PM on that Sunday.

****The Housing Department (Mr. Kevin Holt) has been GREAT to work with this year! Mr. Holt is hoping to have ONLY Marching Southenrers in Dixon hall for the upcoming year. If we can get at least 160 Southerners to sign up for Dixon....it will be a 100% band dorm once again!

If you get the opportunity to thank Mr. Holt, please do so. He is working diligently to make this happen for us!
 

How many people will be chosen for the guard?
Right now we are looking at a total that ranges from 1 to 55. We are more concerned with quality rather than quantity. If you can do it and do it well, then you shouldn't have a problem.

What will I have to do for Auditions?
Basically the auditions are broken down into three sections: Body, Equipment and Attitude. Everyone auditioning will be required to perform a series of basic fundamentals on flag, as well as movement fundamentals. After the color guard is chosen on these elements, we will then have auditions for weapon spots within the color guard.
